Ok mums and dads you’ve only got 10 days until the small fries are released from school for two weeks, and it isn’t easy (on you, or your bank account!) to provide quality entertainment.

# 1: The next Jamie Oliver could be in your kitchen
Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food is offering a four-day school holiday program teaching children, aged 12 and over, to cook Jamie's nutritious and delicious recipes. Participants will learn how to bake, grill, boil and roast using fresh, quality ingredients while gaining confidence in the kitchen. Lunch, ingredients and recipes are all included, participants will also take samples home to share with family and friends.

# 2: Wander the streets taking photos with Analogue Academy
Suitable for kids aged 12+ this free workshop will see kids wander the streets of Central Geelong (with a guide) learning the basics of black and white film photography, capturing creative photographs and learning about composition and creative techniques. At the end of the walking tour participants will head back to Courthouse Youth Arts to develop films by hand.

# 3: Get creative at Urban Upcycle
According to the urban dictionary the word upcycle means; 'Using ordinary objects to make something extraordinary', at that’s exactly what you can do at this super cool place located in Grovedale. For as little as $6 your kids can get creative with all kinds of recycled materials, masterpiece which they can take home and show off to their friends.

# 4: Jump in muddy puddles with Peppa Pig
As a mum to a massive Peppa & George fan this is one activity I’m pretty excited about, Westfield Geelong are bringing the cheeky little pigs to life in two live on Wednesday 4th October show #1 is on at 11am and show #2 will kick off at 1pm this is a free activity and forms part of Westfield’s School Holiday Program.

# 5 Be a zookeeper for a day
These school holidays kids aged 12+ can discover what it’s like to work at Werribee Open Range Zoo and become a Keeper for a Day! Heading behind-the-scenes, participants will get a hands-on experience of what it’s like to work as a zoo keeper as they take part in the many duties the Werribee zoo keepers undertake on a daily basis, including animal enrichment and exhibit maintenance. Participants will get to see the animals up close, speak with Werribee zoo keepers about their jobs and experience and head on a special safari tour across the savannah.

#6 Become a Junior Chocolatier
These Junior Chocolatier Classes are held in their ‘parent free zone’, children aged 6 – 12 years can learn from expert chocolatiers about how to make their very own chocolate creations. Participants will receive a personalised badge, chef’s hat and apron, graduation certificate plus three chocolate creations to take home and enjoy.

#7 Burn some energy at Totally Sport
The Geelong Totally Sport program is located at Simonds Stadium in Geelong and delivered out of the Deakin Cats Community Centre with opportunity for participants to utilise the Geelong Cats football ground! Other regular sports include AFL, NRL, Karate, Cricket, Netball, Yoga and a trip to the Geelong Boxing and Obsticle Training Centre!

#8 Float like a butterfly in the Butterfly Gazebo
The amazing team at Central Geelong Marketing have pulled together another fabulous School Holiday Program with the highlight being the Butterfly Gazebo at the Carousel, an enchanting and educational experience where kids can observe and will be encouraged and assisted to touch and feed the butterflies in a safe way. Participants will be fascinated by this unique experience not available anywhere else… Plenty of photo opportunities!

#9 Dinner, Wine & Movie
Yes your read that correctly, no not wine for the kids but you can certainly sip on a Rose while the kids enjoy ‘Paper Planes’ being screened at Mt Duneed Estate.
Not only is this a fun night out, proceeds from the gold coin entry will be local charity Geelong Mums.

#10 Arrrgghh me hearties jump on Benito’s Pirate Train
Join Benito the Pirate and his side kick Ruby for a journey of a lifetime on the Bellarine Railway. Circus stunts, singing, games and a whole load of fun will be had by all on this jolly ride plus a treasure will be hidden on the train for one lucky pirate to find. All new recruits will leave with their own balloon sword!
